Mater Dei Prep Leadership Announcement

Dear Seraph Community,

It has been an exceptional month at Mater Dei Prep and it is my pleasure to share an update on our progress and our path to the future.

This month we announced innovative academic concepts that will enhance the quality of education for our students. The new institutes of Emergency Medical Services and Nursing, Performing Arts, Global Leaders and Information Technology are designed to teach students the skills needed to excel in today’s diverse, technology-based fields and augment our already rigorous college-preparatory curriculum.
Two weeks ago we held our signature fundraising event, the Seraph Strong Gala. Thanks to the outstanding efforts of our Seraph community, we raised over $100,000. In addition to our fundraising successes, our enrollment growth continues. We currently project 100 students in the Class of 2022, perfectly positioning us for a fiscally sound future.
This summer, Mr. John A. Anderson, agreed to serve Mater Dei Prep during our leadership transition as Interim Head of School. Over the past three decades, Mr. Anderson has been a valuable member of the Mater Dei Prep community as a teacher, coach, administrator and friend. It is with deep appreciation and respect that I thank Mr. Anderson for shepherding Mater Dei Prep these last six months and announce his departure from the position on February 28, 2018. Mr. Anderson will be returning to his well-deserved retirement but will remain engaged with Mater Dei Prep as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees.
The thorough search for a permanent principal is well under way. As we complete this process, I am fortunate to be supported by a steadfast and hard-working Administrative Team: Kathleen Daly, Associate Head of SchoolAdvancement & Student Outcomes; Steven Andersen, Associate Head of SchoolDevelopment & Operations, Robert Erikson, Athletic Director (who holds a principal certification); and Phil Masterson, Director of Student Services. We remain focused on evaluating our current curriculum, class size and staff needs to ensure Mater Dei Prep’s academic programs are meeting our students’ needs while delivering the best possible college-preparatory experience.
With that goal in mind, we have engaged two education consultants each with over 25 years of supervisory experience who will focus on curriculum and faculty development.
Lastly, I want to thank each of you for your continued support of and belief in Mater Dei Prep. Ultimately, you are the reason our future is so bright.
God Bless,

Donald Galante, President
