Performing Arts are an important part of the Mater Dei Prep experience. Students are encouraged to participate in the performing arts through musical and dramatic theater, chorus and band. Our twice-monthly Mater Dei Cabarets give every student the opportunity to perform in front of their peers.
Our award-winning theater program has built a reputation for excellence in Monmouth County and throughout the state of New Jersey. Opportunities for involvement in theater at Mater Dei Prep are plentiful. In addition to academic classes, the Seraph Players are a very active theater group, performing three full-scale productions per year, as well as participating in various field trips and competition performances.
Chorus membersperform in two concerts per year, sing at school liturgies and special events, and participate in choral field trips to events such as the Monmouth Teen Arts Festival and the Trills and Thrills Choral Festival.
Mater Dei Prep providesseveral different opportunities for students who play instruments. We offer a piano course as part of the music curriculum and support a concert band as well as student-led bands by providing rehearsal time, space and access to instruments.
Students interested in dance may fulfill their physical education requirements by taking classes in our state-of-the-art dance studio.
