Mater Dei Prep Launches Global Leaders Institute

Mater Dei Prep has recently launched four new academic institutes – the Emergency Medical Services and Nursing Institute, Performing Arts Institute, the Information Technology Institute, and the Global Leaders Institute to kick off the 2018-2019 school year. Each institute is designed to teach students the skills needed to excel in today’s diverse, technology-based fields through hands-on learning.

The Global Leaders Institute uses a dynamic and interactive curriculum that focuses on preparing students for success in global situations. Approximately 50 students are currently registered in the new innovative academic program. Students learn important leadership skills that they put into practice by partnering with the United Nations Department of Public Information Non-Governmental Organizations (UN DPI/NGO) like Pathways to Peace. Students benefit from the unique relationship Mater Dei Prep has with the United Nations and regularly attend conferences and committee meetings.

“The skills that the students are learning will follow them for their entire life. Through the Global Leaders Institute students develop communication and social skills, learn effective leadership and negotiation skills, and learn United Nations protocols to establish committee memberships. They are learning to become great leaders that will make an impact on the world,” said Mr. George Anthony, Head of the Global Leaders Institute.

On Wednesday, August 22, 2018 the Mater Dei Prep Global Leaders Institute in partnership with Pathways To Peace had the opportunity to present at the 67th UN DPI/NGO Global Summit "We the Peoples: Global Summit for Global Solutions" Conference at the United Nations in New York City. The Mater Dei Prep Global Leaders Institute application was selected to present over hundreds of international submissions.

“The courses in the Mater Dei Prep Global Leaders Institute are very interactive and help us become better leaders in the community. Having the ability to attend United Nations committee meetings makes us feel like we are a part of something bigger in our community”, said Karen Nortz MDP ’20.

Mater Dei Prep invites all prospective families to learn more about the new Mater Dei Prep Academic Institutes at Open House on Sunday, October 21st from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. For more information or to register, visit or contact Christine Altland, Admissions Officer, at
