Mater Dei Prep Student-Athletes Shine on National Signing Day
On Wednesday, February 6th, six Mater Dei Prep seniors proudly signed their National Letter of Intent to continue their academic and football careers on National Signing Day. The Seraph student-athletes join the Boston College duo of Izaiah Henderson and Shitta Sillah, who signed in December on National Early Signing Day. Mater Dei Prep was proud to have eight student-athletes in total commit to prestigious universities between both Signing Days.
“I am constantly saying that the number one goal of our football program is not to win games. At Mater Dei Prep we mentor our players to be hardworking and respectful individuals. We develop our players to become student-athletes at the best colleges and universities in the country. This year was no exception, as our boys received scholarships from prestigious universities such as Georgetown, Boston College, Fordham and The U.S. Military Academy at West Point. We are all very proud of the 2019 senior class that includes eight players signing Division 1 scholarships and a few more going to great Division 3 schools. The Mater Dei Prep extended family, teachers, administration, and counselors were a huge part of their success and all of the Mater Dei Prep players and coaches sincerely thank them,” said Dino Mangiero, Mater Dei Prep head football coach.
The eight student-athletes have followed the same college preparatory path that all Mater Dei Prep students follow. From the moment a student enrolls in Mater Dei Prep, an individualized learning plan is developed to ensure they have the tools needed to meet and exceed their goals. Designed to challenge the individual, the Mater Dei Prep curriculum encourages students to take risks and explore areas of true interest as they prepare for post-secondary education.
