INCOMING FRESHMEN:

MONSIGNOR BULMAN CAMPUS PARTNERS PROGRAM
As part of our campus community initiative, Mater Dei Prep offers this program to any incoming freshman who graduates from St. Mary School in Middletown, NJ. The Monsignor Bulman Campus Partners Program provides a $1,200.00 reduction from the standard tuition. This program will be applied upon registration at Mater Dei Prep.
 
CAPSTONE ACADEMY
All applicants are required to have a current average of an A+ and must submit an application, resume, letter of recommendation, and essay. Those that qualify will be asked to attend an interview with the administration and select faculty at Mater Dei Prep. Each year 10 students are selected to join the program and will receive a $2,500 scholarship towards their tuition. Accepted students are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 4.0 and attend all activities of the program in order to remain a member of Capstone.

Students applying for the Capstone Academy must be entering the Class of 2024 and have previously completed their Mater Dei Prep application. All applicants must take the HSPT on December 7, 2019. Applicants are automatically registered for the HSPT when they submit their Mater Dei Prep application. Completed applications must be submitted by November 27.

FUTURE SERAPH SCHOLARSHIP
This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to students looking to continue their Catholic high school education at Mater Dei Prep. Students must complete an online application and submit a 350-500-word essay on one of three given topics relating to leadership, community service and extracurricular activities. The competition is open to all seventh grade students in public and private schools in Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties. 

Up to three Future Seraph scholarships will be awarded each year. Completed essays must be submitted by January 6, 2020.

PLACEMENT TEST SCHOLARSHIP
Two $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the top 10 performing students on the Mater Dei Prep Placement Test taken on December 7.  Students must complete their Mater Dei Prep application and be registered for the Placement Test by December 7 to be considered for the scholarship.

 

UNDERGRADUATE:

KATIE MCCARTHY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a freshman or sophomore student to commemorate the life of Katie McCarthy and ensure her message and way of life are recognized and valued. Katie loved everything about life; she valued God and her family above everything else. She valued every person she met. Katie loved to smile. She loved to laugh. She loved to sing. She loved to talk. Katie appreciated all the little gifts of life.

The recipient of this scholarship will be selected by the McCarthy Family and a committee of Mater Dei Prep faculty and administrators. The award is granted to the student, with the $1,000 paid directly to Mater Dei Prep.

To apply for this scholarship please submit a short summary of who you are. Tell us about how you share God’s love in the world. Let us know who you really are and how you embody the values of Katie. The recipient will be announced at the Mater Dei Prep Academic Awards Night in May 2020.

THE VICTOR ZANDO MEMORIAL AWARD AND SCHOLARSHIP
This award is presented to a freshman, sophomore or junior in memory of Victor Zando. Victor attended Catholic elementary and high school and had an incredible respect for his Catholic upbringing. He had a determination and passion that were much larger than his physical stature. Victor valued his family and his friendships above everything else. He was devoted, loyal and loving. Students considered for this scholarship are actively involved in community service, maintain academic excellence, possess a passion and dedication to the sports they play and display a reverence for their Catholic education.

Students are nominated by the Mater Dei Prep Scholarship Committee with the final award selection made by The Victor Zando Foundation. This $3,000 scholarship is granted to the student, but paid to Mater Dei Prep as a credit against the student’s tuition. Award recipient is announced at the Mater Dei Prep Academic Awards Night.

 

SENIORS:

THE ELLEN CUNNINGHAM AKMENTINS SCHOLARSHIP

The Ellen Cunningham Akmentins Fund was established by her parents as a memorial scholarship program, developed to perpetuate their daughter’s love for the fields of communication and education in a meaningful, loving manner. This $10,000 scholarship is awarded annually to students who will be majoring in communications or teaching in college.

Applicants are required to write an essay on “Why I chose communications or teaching as my major.” Please forward your essay to scholarships@materdeiprep.org please note “Ellen Cunningham Akmentins Scholarship” in the subject line, or mail a hard copy to Mater Dei Prep, Ellen Cunningham Akmentins Scholarship, 538 Church Street, Middletown, NJ 07748.

The recipient will be announced at graduation.

HERFF JONES JOURNALISM ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
This $350 scholarship is presented to a student who shows dedication to excellence in yearbook journalism, takes a leadership role in commitment to deadlines, follows the latest trends in design layout and photo journalism and contributes to high quality copy writing in creating Mater Dei Prep’s yearbook, Theotokos. This award is chosen by the Mater Dei Prep yearbook advisor. Award recipient is announced at graduation.

THE GRACE AZZOLINA SCADUTO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This $1,000 scholarship is presented to a female senior in memory of Grace’s dedication to her family, philanthropic advocacy, community service and her ongoing courage as a breast cancer victim. Students applying must be an active member in activities such as student body government, future business leaders of America and/or any type of charitable work. Students must also exhibit the attributes of leadership, kindness, civic-mindedness, and respect for fellow peers. Applicants must also demonstrate community service and a desire to further their education upon graduation. Special consideration will be given to any student who has demonstrated perseverance and courage in the face of adversity or extraordinary personal circumstances.

Applicants are asked to write a letter to the selection committee explaining how they exemplify the same characteristics that Grace did during her life. Applicants can include their experience with community service, their interest in business, the importance of kindness and respect, and how they hope to continue this service in college and beyond.

The Scholarship recipient will be chosen by the Mater Dei Prep selection committee and the recipient will be announced at graduation.

THE JOHN A. ANDERSON SCHOLARSHIP

Selected by the Mater Dei Prep Scholarship Committee, this $500 award is given in memory of Charles and Anthony Anderson by Mr. John A. Anderson, former assistant principal at Mater Dei Prep. This award is given to a senior who exemplifies the love for Mater Dei Prep, love for fellow students, cooperation with the Mater Dei Prep administration and someone who can be counted on in a time of need.

An additional $250 will be added to the award if the student is the child of a St. Mary School graduate. An additional $250 will also be added to the award if the student is a child of a Mater Dei Prep graduate.

The recipient will be announced at graduation.

CPL KEVIN J. REINHARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship seeks to immortalize the life and accomplishments of Cpl. Kevin J. Reinhard, a 2005 graduate of Saint Joseph’s High School in Metuchen. Kevin attended college and then enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2008. Before his term of service was complete, Kevin was killed in a helicopter crash on January 19, 2012. Kevin’s commitment to Saint Joseph’s and its mission helped his family realize the best way to honor Kevin’s memory and celebrate his life was to create a scholarship in his name. Begun in 2012 at Saint Joseph’s, those who have made the scholarship possible are now extending it to Mater Dei Prep as they feel our students embody the characteristics that made Kevin so special.

The recipient of this scholarship is expected to exemplify the outstanding characteristics of academic achievement, participation in school activities, service to others and leadership through good character and example.

Applicants must submit a 500-word essay describing how the education you received at Mater Dei Prep will help you achieve your educational goals in college and beyond. Please include three (3) traits which you possess and have developed while at Mater Dei Prep and how you will continue to build upon them in the future. Applicants must also provide evidence of past community service. Students applying for this scholarship must have a 3.0 GPA. This one-time monetary award of $2,000 will be presented to a senior at graduation.
