Mater Dei Prep would like to recognize seniors, Karen Nortz and Christopher Napoli, both varsity soccer players, on their amazing accomplishment. Both students have been chosen as Heisman High School Scholarship School Winners for 2019. This prestigious award given out to select high school seniors is focused on exceptional scholar-athletes who realize that success isn’t limited to the field but can be found in the classroom and their community as well. Both Karen and Christopher show these traits and have proven as leaders why they deserve this award.
The Heisman Trophy is most commonly associated with being a symbol in college football, but the Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship has extended the guidelines to high school scholar-athletes since 1994. It is a partnership between Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas and The Heisman Trophy Trust, and since the start, the program has honored more than 600,000 high school seniors who have excelled in more ways than on the field.
They aim to invite students from all high schools to be honored and share their stories in the hopes of influencing and inspiring other students to reach their potential and help in ways they never expected. Congratulations to Karen Nortz and Christopher Napoli on this accomplishment, Mater Dei Prep is very proud. Go Seraphs!
