Isabella Martino, 17, of Red Bank, a junior at Mater Dei Prep, attended a precollege summer program at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Isabella was also the recipient of the prestigious Brown University Dean's List Scholarship, an award predicated on leadership, academics and athletic excellence.

Isabella is an honor student here at Mater Dei Prep, a Varsity field hockey player and a track and field participant. She has been involved with travel field hockey for 11 years, and has pursued interests in lacrosse. Isabella, also being the middle child of seven siblings, all of whom are athletes, is a devoted fan of a myriad of sports on all levels through college. She is an avid SEC football fan, specifically Ole Miss, the alma mater of her brothers and where she tries to get to at least one big home game a year. In the interim, she really enjoys the Mater Dei Prep football games! This passion for sports was the driving force behind her choice of enrolling in the Brown University Science of Training program. She said, “this course taught me not only so much about physiology, and sport injury, but also about the value of training properly from hydration to diet.” These are invaluable lifelong lessons. Isabella also is a two-time summer scholar at FIT in New York City, where she is also pursuing an interest in design and fashion.

Isabella says, “Mater Dei Prep, fully prepared me for and facilitated in every way, these wonderful opportunities, and in a way that is crafting my future college choices and career goals. I am so grateful to be here”.
